The challenge
Timpson critically needed to migrate online operations from the outdated Magento 1 platform, to the more robust and capable Magento 2 to ensure data integrity, streamline operations, reduce cost ownership, and increase longterm ROI. Yet, multiple key business and technical constraints needed to be addressed during the migration process.
Our solution
With three distinct brands operating on separate Magento 1 instances (stores), Magecom mapped the numerous, deeply integrated 3rd-party services, including modules for photo printing and custom engraving, multiple payment gateways and, various order fulfilment capabilities.
These services depnded upon complex customization tools and seamless data handling between the front-end and back-end systems. So, our goal was to sustain the quality and performance of those integrations during, and after, the platform migration to ensure business continuity.
We were able to acheive 100% data transfer accuracy, with all customer, product, and order data successfully migrated to the new platform, without any loss or corruption. The new multi-site Magento 2 setup resulted in increased operational efficiency and decreased cost of ownership.

The migration of their multiple brand sites from Magento 1 to Magento 2 was only the first step in optimizing Timpson’s broad range of services into a more seamless and user-friendly experience.

Our solution
Magecom analyzed each integrated module to streamline user interfaces and enhance technical and design performance.
We also addressed the visual asthetic of each site, leveraging M2 design features to refresh the look and feel, providing a more modern and visually pleasing finish.
Given the constant high volume of orders, we optimized Timpson’s new Magento 2 platform with best practices addressing technical SEO, file sizes and transactional payloads, database management, and caching.
